Leírás
From the author of the Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana Series comes a nine-volume literary treasure, Nava-vraja-mahimā. In this epic work of over 6,000 pages, Śrīla Śivarāma Swami reveals the glories of the sacred dhāma through the medium of pastime, parikramā, and philosophy.
Volume 1 extols the beauty and wonder of New Vraja-dhāma, and enters into a fascinating study of dhāma-tattva, analysing how it is that a holy place can be established in an inconsequential place in the Hungarian countryside, or anywhere for that matter. We are then launched into a wonderful parikramā of Vṛndāvana spanning almost 6 volumes and 4,000 pages, going through holy places such as Mathurā, the 12 forests of Vṛndāvana, Varāha-ghāṭa, Keśī-ghāṭa, Dhīra-samīra, Bhatrola, Kurukṣetra, Śukratal, Naimiṣāraṇya, Ramaṇa-reti, Terh-kadamba, Yāvatā, Varṣāṇā, and Govardhana Hill, amongst many others.
Stopping at each site, the reader is treated to a detailed, absorbing recount of the Lord’s transcendental activities alongside his loving associates. In all, there are over 600 mesmerising pastimes, many of which are rarely heard, along with over 400 new and beautiful pieces of art. This is the perfect parikramāguide for anyone wanting to truly relish their pilgrimage to the dhāma, accessible to adults as well as children, seasoned devotees as well as beginners.
The parikramā and pastimes are interwoven with aspects of the philosophy, painstakingly presented in 3-line paragraphs to make the content digestible. In addition, each volume has a set of appendices which include more in-depth research into aspects of the dhāma, and the Lord’s pastimes. Some of the fascinating topics covered include:
- The History of Bhauma-Vṛndāvana
- Uddhava Reads Kṛṣṇa’s Letters to the Gopīs
- Apparent Transience in the Realm of Absolute Permanence
- Deliberation on the Ages of Kṛṣṇa and His Associates
- The Glories to Caitanya Mahāprabhu
- The Vision for New Vraja-dhāma
Volume 7 extols the glories of the gāyatrī-mantras, and Volume 8, the jewel in the crown, illuminates the mahā-mantra. Attentive and devoted meditation on these mantras reveals from within the glories of the dhāmaand the associated pastimes, as eulogised in the preceding volumes.
Finally, there is a detailed map book, fully indexed and complete with hand-drawn pictures. Whilst filing through the various maps, the reader can find references to the pastimes in the main body of the book, associated with the holy places detailed in the maps.
All in all, this is a complete guide to the holy land of Vṛndāvana in all its glories. Printed to the highest quality and with great attention to detail, this is an heirloom piece to be passed down from generation to generation.
Following popular demand, Lāl Publishing has undertaken a third printing of this masterpiece in 2024, with a desire to inundate more hearts with Vṛndāvana, and with Vraja bhakti, who will make Rādhā-Śyāma their life and soul.
